Luckily for Kansas City fashion lovers, a magical little shop opened that is full of new and vintage pieces. The owners Maria and Chanel have curated an amazing and affordable selection of clothing, jewelry and home goods. Its one of my favorite spots to hit for a little something special and I highly recommend heading there if you live in KC or you can shop online.  The shoes are old standbys that match when nothing else seems to (or I need to be comfortable while hauling a toddler around). I went back and forth on the bag... Deciding between the Mansur Gavriel cross body and this Closed Official bag. It was a toss up and I ended up with a perfect little cognac leather bag from Heist on Abbot Kinney (sadly one of the tassels fell off a few weeks ago 😭). But the moral of this story is... Shop at Shop Dear Society. It's freaking amazing! 

Urban Backpacker

I laid eyes on this backpack last summer at Assembly in New York and it's been on my mind ever since. I'm typically so drawn to black accessories that it was a huge leap of faith to purchase the white version (fashion decisions can be some of life's hardest choices... as silly as that sounds). I couldn't be happier with my choice and already wear it nonstop. It's easy, chic and yes... The white leather cleans up nicely at the end of the day with a toddler and the rest of life's little messes. Now I sound like a Bounty commercial. But alas, I'm drawn to white just as much as black and every other non-color of the rainbow.  I will definitely be wearing this staple piece with everything from workout gear to my favorite high waisted white pants. I'm also obsessed with ribbed and high neck anything at the moment and this tank fit the bill. Had to have it in white and black (what a surprise I know).

Palm Springs Lady

I was hoping my first visit to Palm Springs might involve a well known music festival... But alas... It was a family vacation which turned out to be even more fun AND relaxing (which I doubt anyone ever put Coachella in the relaxing category). We stayed at an amazing Airbnb, which Palm Springs is full of and most include pools and mid century furnishings. We ate our way through town and explored every well known hotel and restaurant known to man.  Day tripped to Joshua Tree with a much needed bite at In and Out burger on the way home. Sipped date shakes, swam all day and even learned to skateboard (penny board to be exact). It was a trip back in time and every bit as colorful and delicious as I expected.

Visit-  Joshua Tree, Moorten Botanical Garden, Parker Hotel (the grounds are unbelievably gorgeous)

Black Out

Black is definitely a constant in my fashion life. It's easy, it's looks great on just about everyone and it's perfect for a night out on the town. The sweater is from my absolute favorite KC clothing haunt, Finefolk. It's one of those easy tops you can pull on with just about anything... Including my favorite high waisted leather skirt which is surprisingly from Madewell. Who knew they did leather?!?! Shot by my incredibly talented stepdaughter Annie (anniedreyer.com) who also happened to freshen up the old blog. A classic case of the student becoming the teacher. Thank you grasshopper.

Tulum

This post is a bit overdue but Tulum isn’t going anywhere anytime soon and thank god for that.  But it’s quickly becoming more and more popular due to a huge influx of bloggers heading to this steamy paradise. And after experiencing this magical wonderland of boutique hotels and delicious jungle eateries I now know why. There are so many different ways you can spend your time in Tulum…from sipping delicious cocktails and relaxing all day to filling your days with action packed adventure. If your interested in all-inclusive over sized resorts this isn’t your place. If you want a unique bohemian adventure filled with delicious food, tropical jungles and pristine beaches around every corner then this is your spot. We stayed at Coqui Coqui perfumeria, visited Chitzen Itza, the Tulum Ruins, loads of cenotes and ate our way through town. Don’t miss a day trip to Valladolid if you have time (historic and colorful). We rented bikes at Yoga Shala and had a spectacular day feeling the wind in our hair while we explored paradise. 

Stay – Coqui coqui perfumeria (also check out the Vallodolid location), Casa Malca, Nomade, Azulik

Eat – Hartwood, Gitano, Casa jaguar, Posada margherita, Bolas De Postre (for ice cream near yoga shala) 

Wearing – Magali Pascal, Zara, Ancient Greek sandals, Crochet bikini, Cecilie Copenhagen ,Brixton (remember to dress cool and comfortable… It can get extremely hot and humid in Tulum)

Visit – Sian Kaan, Tulum Ruins, Chichen Itza, Valladolid, Cenotes (as many as you can)
