Ever since I became a stepmother almost 14 years ago, Mother’s Day has always held a very special place in my heart. 7 years later after a couple rounds of IVF (becoming a mother isn’t always easy) I had a daughter of my own and just recently a new baby boy (who is 1/2 human, half machine to say it nicely). Like most mothers there isn’t always a lot of extra time leftover on the weekends to do special things or take a moment for ourselves. For me, Mother’s Day is all about stopping to smell the flowers every once in a while… even if ironically it’s “baby’s breath”. Sometimes the one thing I want to do is peel off my leggings and get dressed up for a special night out (or in). Other times, I love to savor those extra moments at home by taking a hot bath (with or without bubbles), sipping my coffee (preferably in silence) or honestly just taking my time cooking a delicious meal. I truly LOVE cooking and can’t think of anything more motherly than preparing delicious healthy food for my loved ones. The only thing that makes all of the above a little sweeter is wearing Tiffany & Co. while doing it. So to all the mothers, grandmothers, future mothers and animal mothers out there… enjoy YOUR day because we have to wait another 364 until the next one.
